How to Translate Web Pages with the Click of a Button
Did you know that you can make translations without even knowing one single word of that language that you want to translate? Yes, you heard it right, with the help of easy-to-use online translation tools, it is now possible to translate words, sentences and even full web pages from their original language to yours or another one. Although this will not be a perfect one-to-one translation like the work of an expert translator, most of the times, it will be more than enough for general purposes.
Today, a big portion of the internet consists of websites written in English; however, there are dozens of other languages around the world that are spoken by millions (or even billions) of people and each day, new websites in those languages are being added to the World Wide Web.
You may need translating web pages for any reason, for example you might need to make some research on websites that are in different languages. And if you don't know the language of a website, you will have three options.
In the first one, you can pay someone to translate it for you. This will cost a lot of money depending on the length and difficulty of the text you will have translated. Sometimes, it is impossible to find a translator to do the job, especially if the language is not so popular.
In the second option, you can grab a dictionary and try to translate every single word, one by one yourself. Although this will cost no money to you, it will take too much of your time and without knowing the grammar rules etc. it is unlikely that you will make correct translations.
As a final option, and this is what I will talk about in detail, you can use online tools to help you in your translation.
Using Online Tools to Translate Web Pages
The first online translation tool I will talk about is Google Translate. This is one of the very useful services of Google and it is totally free. Here is how it works:
1. Open the web page that you want to translate.
2. Open http://translate.google.com/ in another browser window (or tab).
3. Copy the text that you want to translate from the web page and paste it into the text field as it is shown in the image below.
As soon as the text is pasted into the text field, it will be translated automatically in a short time and the result will be shown on the right side.

You can translate between many languages using this tool. A newly added feature of Google Translate is that it provides alternative translations by clicking on the words. This is a really nice thing if you want to see the alternative meanings as well.
You can use Google Translate for translating single words, groups of words, sentences, paragraphs or even a complete page. If you haven't used it up to now, I am pretty sure that you will find it useful. This is all about Google Translate, let's continue with the next tool.
Please note that Google Toolbar will work on browsers other than Chrome.
Google Toolbar is a multifunctional toolbar that has a lot of features including a one-click translation button. If it is ready, here is how you make the translation:
1. Open your browser and make sure that the Google Toolbar is active (you will see it just below the address bar).
2. Go to the web page that you want to translate.
3. Click the Translate button on the Google Toolbar and it will make the translation in a few seconds. By default, it will translate the current text into the language of the Google Toolbar. For example, if you've installed the English version, it will translate the web page into English. You can change this by selecting any language you want from the language button as you can see below.
This is how you translate a web page easily using Google Toolbar.
I want to talk about one last translation tool (though, it is not an online tool), Babylon, which is the most popular translation software around the world. You can download and install Babylon in just a few minutes and start making translations. Babylon is a very powerful translation software which is capable of translating single words and text. You can try Babylon for free, and if you like it, you can upgrade it to the full version.
These are the translation tools that I wanted to talk about. I hope you will find this post useful. Please let me know if you have any questions. Also, please tell me if you know about other nice online translation tools as well. Thanks for reading.
