How to Change the Language of Your Android Phone
Sometimes, you may need to change the default language of your Android device for a certain reason and luckily there is an option to accomplish that easily. In this tutorial, I will show you how to quickly change the system language of your Android smartphone.
If you purchased a phone with Android operating system that comes with a language that you prefer not to use or if you want to change the system language on your smartphone temporarily for a certain task or maybe to get accustomed to a new language you are learning, you can do that easily through the language settings.
For the experienced user, that is probably a very easy task; but for new users who have never used an Android phone before, it may take a little time to get used to how it works and to get comfortable with where the system settings are located. For that reason, I will briefly demonstrate in this post how to change the language in an Android device.
Note that, in most cases the mobile phones and tablets that use the Android OS have similar interfaces and settings panels even though their screen sizes may be quite different. Therefore, you can also follow this tutorial if you wanted to change the language settings on your Android tablet.
Now, let's see how it works.
How to Change the Language of an Android Phone
The phone I will be using in this tutorial is a Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini with Android 4.2.2 (see how to check Android version). Depending on your phone model and Android version, the steps you will need to take might be slightly different but the concept should be more or less the same.
STEP 1: Open your phone and find the Apps button. It is usually on the homescreen by default.
Try checking the other pages of your screen if you can't find the Apps button on the homescreen.
STEP 2: Tap on the Apps button and find the Settings button on the next screen.
If you can't see the Settings button on the first page, swipe the screen left-right to view other pages till you locate it.
STEP 3: Tap on the Settings button which will open the Settings panel and then select My device tab at the top.
STEP 4: Scroll (swipe) down until you see Language and input option in the Input and control section at the bottom and tap on it.
This will open the Language and input settings page.
STEP 5: You will see the Language option at the top of this page, tap on it.
Note that depending on what your default system language is, the language you will see there will be different.
STEP 6: If you followed all the steps so far correctly, you should see the language selection screen which lists dozens of languages from all around the world. You can now select the language of your choice. For example, to change your phone's language to Spanish, select Español (España) from the list.
You now know how to change the language of your Android phone easily and you can do that whenever you may need it. If you found this tutorial to be helpful, please share it.
