How to View HTML Source Code of a Web Page

It is possible to view the HTML source code of any web page that you open in your browser and we will demonstrate how to do that in this tutorial.

The source code of web pages (HTML documents) are visible within the browsers and this code is accessible by the end user. To view the source code of a web page you can do the following in each browser:

Firefox

1. Open the web page in Firefox and right click with your mouse on an empty space on the page.

2. Select View Page Source from the menu. This will open a new window with the page's source code.

Chrome

1. Open the web page in Chrome and right click with your mouse on an empty space on the page.

2. Select View page source from the menu. This will open a new tab with the page's source code.

Internet Explorer

1. Open the web page in Internet Explorer and right click with your mouse on an empty space on the page.

Safari

1. Open the web page in Safari and right click with your mouse on an empty space on the page.

Opera

1. Open the web page in Opera and right click with your mouse on an empty space on the page.

Some websites may prevent right clicking on their pages by using some sort of scripts. For such sites, you will have to go to your browser menu and find the option to view the source code.
