Not all the websites use a favicon, but know that adding a favicon to your site, whether it is personal or business related, is a good way of branding and personalization. Also it makes it easier for people to remember your site. People tend to remember images more than text. In this post I will show you how to add a favicon to your Wordpress blog.

Apparently, you will need a favicon at first. The size of a standard favicon is 16x16 pixels. You can either use free ready-to-use favicons or create it yourself or have someone design it for you.

Here are two sites that offer free favicons and favicon generators:

FreeFavicon.com
Favicon.co.uk

Once you have your favicon ready, you can continue with inserting it to your site following the steps below:

1. Open Wordpress admin panel of your site.
2. Go to Appearance > Editor and choose Header (header.php) file.
3. Insert the following code:

<link rel="shortcut icon" href="/favicon.png">

Simply replace favicon.png with your favicon image file.

That's all. It is that easy to insert a favicon to your WordPress blog. If you need help with adding a favicon to your blog, please let me know.
