When we think about watching videos and live streams, checking the latest movie trailers and listening to free music online, the first website that comes to our minds is YouTube, the most popular video sharing website in the world.

YouTube is great not only for finding an endless supply of interesting videos of all sorts, but also for creating your own channel to publish and share videos with everyone. Whether you are making personal vlog type videos, funny prank videos, game reviews and walkthroughs, tutorials, news videos or business related videos, YouTube is a nice place to host your videos if you want your video content to be seen and shared online. If your videos are good and interesting enough, there's also a chance for them to go viral and gain you a lot of viewers and subscribers.

The channel art that is displayed on your YouTube channel page is one of the important parts of your channel, as it gives new visitors a quick clue regarding what your channel is about and what type of videos they may expect to find on it. Apart from the quality of your videos and how engaging they are, a properly prepared channel art image, one that is relevant to your content and that nicely grabs attention in other words, increases the chances of your channel to win the visitor as a new subscriber.

There are a number of options you have when you decide to change your channel art. For example, you can grab a pre-made YouTube banner template and modify it to match your channel content. Another option is to use one of the free YouTube channel art makers to create your own header banner image from scratch.

TIP: You can find some beautiful images to use on your channel art, from many freely available resources such as free stock images, free public domain images and free wallpapers.

Now, let's continue with the steps for changing your channel art image with a new one.

Whichever option you go with, pay attention to the recommended channel art size, which is 2560 x 1440 pixels in dimensions and maximum 4 MB in file size. The recommended dimensions are to ensure that your channel art will display properly even on larger screens such as widescreen monitors or TV screens. You can still prepare an image with different dimensions (minimum: 2048 x 1152 pixels) but if you want the best representation of your channel, better to go with the recommended size. As far as the image formats go, using a JPEG image would be the best choice.

We will continue with uploading a new channel art image from our computer.

STEP 5: Make sure the Upload photos tab is selected and then click Select a photo from your computer button.

The selected image will be uploaded to YouTube and a preview of it on various screen sizes will be displayed.
