How to Clear YouTube Search History
In this tutorial, I will demonstrate how to easily clear your YouTube search history in simple steps.
If you are browsing YouTube and viewing videos without logging into your Google account, which is also your YouTube account now, then you don't need to worry about clearing your search history as it works only for logged in users. If on the other hand, you use YouTube while logged in to your account, unless you have changed your search history options, whenever you do a search in the search box at the top of the YouTube page, the search query will be stored in your search history.
Having a log of your search history that displays all your previous search queries is a pretty useful feature in most cases. There may be times that you need to go back and check what you had searched for to find specific videos and so on. However, nowadays with every online platform that comes with the option of your activities being logged even without you knowing, comes the privacy issues too.
There may be occasions that someone else (a family member, a friend or a co-worker) needs to temporarily use your computer or mobile device, or there may be times that you are showing things on YouTube to an audience and in such times, there is a high possibility that your video search history may become visible to people that you really wouldn't like them to see what videos you had been searching for. It doesn't always need to be "adult" themed searches, there are a lot of non-adult topics that one wouldn't feel comfortable if anyone else learned that they are searching for videos in that topic.
Just as a simple example, let's say you want to make a surprise party to a family member of yours or to a friend and you are searching on YouTube for ideas. You wouldn't want them to accidentally see what you have searched on YouTube, right?
Whatever your reason is, here is how you can easily clear your YouTube video search history.
Clear YouTube Search History in 4 Simple Steps
Step 1: Go to YouTube and log in to your account.
Step 2: On the left navigation, click History link. If you don't see the left navigation, click the small icon with three horizontal lines to the left of the YouTube icon.

This will open the history page where your watch history and search history items are logged.
Step 3: Click on the Search history tab to open your search history which displays a list of queries that you previously entered into the search box while searching for various videos.
Note that on this page, you can clear all your search terms at once or delete them one by one using the Remove from Search history button (the X sign) on the right side of each query.
When you are ready to clear all of your search history, proceed with the next step. Remember that this action cannot be undone, so make sure that there is no entries in the log that is important to you.
Step 4: Click Clear all search history button to clear all the entries. You can now continue searching and watching videos with a clean history.
As a sidenote, you can also pause and resume the tracking of your searches by clicking the Pause search history button. Be careful while using that as you may need to refer back to some of your previous searches and if that's the case when your search history is paused, you will not be able to.
